Motorola Smartwatches for Fitness
Motorola's first smart fitness watch was the Moto 360 released in 2014. The Moto 360 is powered by Android Wear Lollipop operating system. It was an immediate success among people looking to combine fitness tracking functionality with wearable tech smartphone features. In 2016 the original Moto 36o was replaced by the Moto 360 2nd Generation. The Moto 360 (2nd Gen) runs on the Android Wear Marshmallow OS. Both versions feature wrist based heart rate and 9 axis accelerometer for 24/7 activity tracking. However, neither has it's own internal GPS. This means they can't provide speed & distance feedback without your phone to hand.
Moto 360 Sport - internal GPS
Motorola have the Moto 360 Sport for those with a more sports focused requirement, e.g. runners. This version differentiates itself from the standard 360 2nd Generation model with a built-in GPS. It also comes in various sporty colour schemes and is surrounded by a strong silicone case & strap. It comes ready to work with the Moto Body software installed as standard, a relatively competent activity tracking application. You may, however, choose to download better fitness apps like RunKeeper, Runtastic, or Strava to get more detailed training logs
NOTE >> If you are seriously in to your fitness training then I also recommend the Polar M600. Like the Moto 360 watches, the Polar M600 is built on Android Wear providing access to dozens of dedicated fitness apps like Strava and Endomondo. The M600 also features wrist based heart rate and it's own built-in GPS (as does the Moto 360 Sport). For iPhone users I'd recommend the Apple Watch 2 Nike+ with wrist based HR, built-in GPS and internal memory for hundreds of songs.
