Digital Heart Rate Monitor
- Target heart
rate zone with optional alarms. Before the session, the user can select
their "intensity" from one of 5 training zones, approx 55,
65, 75, 85, 95% effort.
- 5 target zones
based on max heart rate with 1 x manual zone, allowing you to be more
specific with your heart rate intensity
- Recovery rate
timer. Times heart beats recovered over 1 or 2 minutes. This is a
great indicator of improving fitness.
- Calories burned.
An accurate and consistent calorie counting calculator based on actual
exercising heart rate. This is particularly useful if your training
session is segmented with intervals, rests, swapping from one piece
of equipment to another etc. It allows simple comparison of effort
/ intensity from one session to the next.
- Recall of maximum,
average and minimum heart rate per session.
- Display with
flipping system for easy reading. The user can choose between, for
example, HR on top line, lap time on bottom line. The bottom line
has 40% larger digits
- Top line has option to show active heart rate zone with moving "BLOCK" to show where in your zone you are. This is great for quick reference while exercising. This is illustrated in the images above.
- 100-hour chronograph
with lap and split
- 27 lap memory
with average heart rate and split time. This is also useful to show
heart rate effort across different pieces of equipment. Some HRM's
just give an average heart rate, however, this is dilluted to a lower
level when the user has breaks between equipment, or is doing an interval
set. Average HR splits will give an accurate average per lap / segment
/ equipment etc.
- 100-hour countdown timer with an alarm at end
- Month/day/date
with 12/24 hour time
- Alarm with 5-minute
backup
- INDIGLO. night-light
with NIGHT-MODE. feature
- Double-shot polyurethane
strap - very soft, durable and comfortable
- Water resistant
to 50 meters

BHIP
review © 2007. Basically, we have taken the spec from the EVER POPULAR 59761 and 59751 and added just a few comments. Same applies to the new Timex 5h881 and Timex 5j983 digital heart rate monitors. These are the best, general purpose / serious runner
/ gym user heart rate monitor Timex have made. The Timex Fitness heart rate monitor has everything a useful
HRM should have. This includes, calories, to let you know just how hard
you are working, great for preventing over training, a stopwatch with
27 laps and splits, with average HR per lap, heart rate zone alarm,
to keep you exercising at the optimum intensity, super simple navigation,
and plenty more. It is uses digital transmission for the chest unit
to the watch unit, so it is 100% interference/crosstalk free. You could
wear this surrounded by heart rate monitor users and you would not have
a problem.
We
give this heart rate monitor a very healthy 9/10 for style, size, functionality
and value for money.
Polar
F6F / Polar F11F versus Timex 5h881 and Timex 5j983: We are often asked which is
best between these two models. The answer is.. both are great for the
right end user. The Polar F11F is for the user who wants their heart
rate monitor to set, manage, monitor and feedback on their training
progress. It will prescribe exercise duration, intensity and frequency,
all you then have to do is follow the Keep U Fit programme. The Timex
range of 27 lap IronMan heart rate monitors are for the user who already
knows what they want to do, they just want the watch to manage/monitor
each session. It also has a "proper" stopwatch with laps and
splits, great for 5K, 10K, Marathon runners who want to split the mile
/ km times with average heart rate per lap/km/mile. The closest
product from Polar to this model is the Polar
RS100
