X6HR and SUUNTO X6HRM (metal)
Suunto X6HR
/ Suunto X6HRM – even more accurate information on your performance
Suunto X6HR - X6HRM (Heart Rate Monitor) is a combined altimeter -
barometer - compass and a heart rate monitor, which comes with the
new Suunto transmitter belt. Suunto X6HR - Suunto X6HRM is a perfect
tool for any endurance athlete who wants to improve his/her training.
It offers a unique combination of three functional dimensions: it
gives the user essential information instantly during the performance.
A level of deeper understanding comes with the PC interface. It also
opens a door to an Internet community where endurance sports enthusiasts
worldwide can share and acquire information with and from other users
of Suunto’s latest wristop computer generation.
For example mountain bikers, runners, adventure racers and cross-country
skiers will be able to get more out of their training by using Suunto
X6HR. Knowing the impact of the altitude to one’s heart rate will
help keeping the performance on a right exertion level in all conditions.
Suunto X6HR - Suunto X6HRM is controlled with an easy-to-use menu-based
user interface familiar from mobile phones. In addition to heart rate
and altitude, Suunto X6HR gives information on e.g. vertical speed,
compass bearing and barometric pressure. They all are topics of interest
for everyone who wants to enjoy the outdoor experience to the maximum.
For example the chronometer records altitude and heart rate profile
and the logbook keeps track of how many hills user has ascended during
the day and tells the vertical sum of them. This information can be
checked instantly and the profile can be seen on the wrist display
or later on a PC.
Suunto Activity Manager -software links Suunto X6HR / Suunto X6HRM
to a PC and makes it easy to visualise for example mountain biking
routes and heart rate profiles and finally, to analyse the training
data. It offers an exciting view on the recorded data for all endurance
sports enthusiasts. It is a great tool for keeping a training diary
and creating own activity reports by adding photos and text to the
visualised profiles.

OWNERS COMMENTS © BHIP Ltd 2004 :
The first thing we noticed about the Suunto X6HR / Suunto X6HRM was
it's size, very compact considering what it does. It is probably about
10 -15% smaller in volume than the Suunto Advizor / Metron. It fits
even the smallest wrists with it's well designed strap and fittings.
A few technical features that we noticed are (Same goes for Suunto X6HRM):
-
The altitude resolution of the Suunto X6HR is 1m. The Advizor and
Metron is 5m
-
The Suunto X6HR allows an unlimited number of stopwatch split times
to be added to memory. The Advizor and Metron allow 30
-
The X6HR has a selectable HR sample rate of 2s, 10s and 60s. At
2 seconds the X6HR can store 22 hours of data, including Altitude
etc. This is a very high sample rate. The Polar S610 / S710 sample
down to 5 seconds. We only have one model that has a higher resolution,
the Polar S810 that can store individual Heart Beats.
-
The PC interface was easy to load on our Win 2000 and XP systems
and the interface, via COM port, is effective and simple to attach
to the wrist unit.
-
Please note, all X6HR's are in a dark grey (almost black) colour
scheme. The dark olive green you may have seen are X6 only, not
X6HR
- PC
connection is via SERIAL link (COM1-COM2 etc) Download is very quick,
about 30 secs for 1 hour data file.
- One
of the things that impressed us most with the Suunto X6HR is the
ease of navigation from such a technical unit.
These are our own images, taken by us to help you
see what the Suunto X6HR really looks like. The watch is a lot smaller
than other Suunto models. We always do our best to help you make
the right decision.

activity. For example, the user may start the stopwatch,
to start recording HR data and altitude data, while warming
up. Then, when ready, the user set the interval timer to
"ON" to activate one, or both interval timers.
An example of this in use would be 15 mins warm up with
stopwatch only running. Then activate the INTERVAL option
to give 10 mins effort and 2 mins recovery x 5 times, then
set the INTERVAL option OFF to stop the interval alarms
