The new Suunto t6 / t6c - a personal
training tool to optimize training results
Both progressive
overload and successful recovery are needed when training to improve
one's condition. Suunto t6 / t6c makes the latest scientific research in exercise
physiology available for every athlete and fitness enthusiast to use.
For the first time training load and personal training effect of a session
can be measured, making it possible to optimise aerobic training.
Suunto t6 / t6c provides
the fitness enthusiast with innovative heart rate functions such as
real time average heart rate and other relevant information allowing
the user to control the exercise intensity for optimal training effect.
During the workout, the device records every single heart beat of the
athlete, enabling further analysis of the body functions including EPOC*.
After the workout, this data can easily be transferred to a PC that
immediately gives a personal analysis on the progress.
NOTE : on the newer T6C the user has access to EPOC and TRAINING EFFECT REAL TIME... while training.. this is a BIG DIFFERENCE between the T6 and T6C
Compare
Intensities across sports and training disciplines with the Suunto T6 / T6C:
Suunto
t6 / t6c introduces a numeric value for training load, EPOC. Measuring EPOC
makes different sports and training sessions comparable, which helps
in making an optimal training plan. With Suunto t6 / t6c, athletes in teams,
clubs or individually, can assess their fitness level, define the correct
training load and measure the gain of each session. Suunto t6 utilizes
the results of physiological research conducted by Finnish KIHU - Research
Institute for Olympic Sports, in cooperation with Firstbeat Technologies.
This scientific knowledge enables Suunto t6 to offer users parameters
from every training session that were previously measurable only in
laboratory tests.
Suunto T6 - Suunto T6C
gives easy self-analysis for real-time follow-up
The
easy-to-use PC analysis combines the training data with background information
on the athlete. The analysis calculates seven different physiological
parameters to make sure that the athlete trains neither too hard nor
too easy. These parameters include EPOC, oxygen consumption and energy
consumption which can be accurately measured from rest to maximum heart
rate for the first time on the field. The measurements are based on
the heart rate variation of the recorded beat-to-beat data. The possibility
to exchange training information over e-mail or a web service opens
up new doors for remote coaching and sharing experiences between friends.
Suunto
t6 combines a wristop unit and heart rate transmitter belt with PC software.
Its main functions are heart rate monitor with 128 kB training memory,
watch, stopwatch, timer, altimeter and barometer.
*) EPOC:
Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption,
is a numeric value of oxygen deficit describing fatigue accumulation,
used for accurate evaluation of the training load of each training session
Some general information
to help explain how the T6 works:
What
is EPOC? this section details what the EPOC value is and how
it relates to effort and intensity across differing levels of fitness
How
does the Suunto T6 utilise EPOC in your training programme?
This section details how the Suunto T6 can be used with the Suunto training
software to assess your fitness - setting the right training load /
intensity - measuring the gain
Some more general
information:
Suunto T6 / T6C wristop
computer allows the user to display relative information on one screen.
Below are a few illustrations to show the level of information that
is available on the Suunto T6 / Suunto T6C at any one time. These are just a few
samples.
Watch functions, personal settings: showing Date, Time of Day and Day
of week

Altimeter - weather functions showing; rate of ascent, current altitude
and ascended metres today

Heart Rate - timing functions showing current heart rate, trainign time
