they will NOT interface with Gym equipement. Generally, this

This is a great heart rate monitor for the user that wishes to train
in more than 1 zone in a single session. Simple to move from Z1-Z2-Z3
allowing the user to increase or decrease the effort. Good heart rate
feedback at the end of the session, plus realtime scan function giving
: max HR, min HR and average HR so far. Very good, easy to use sports
heart rate monitor..
These
models are HR compatible with most popular makes of gym equipment.
IF the equipment says "Polar Compatible" or similar, these
will interface with them..
- Heart rate to ECG accuracy

- Heart rate zone high and low limit in 1 beat steps

Ltd summary. There are many users who want to know their heart rate THROUGHOUT a training session. To do this you need to use an HRM with a chest strap. The Reebok Hybrid has one of these so it is great for continuous heart rate monitoring throughout a session. Managing heart rate levels, monitoring calorie burn etc.
There are others who want to know their heart rate ON DEMAND only, throughout the day for example. To do this you need a finger touch ECG sensor. The Reebok Hybrid has this as well.
In summary, you get the best of both worlds!!
