Polar RS300x - Interval and multi heart rate zone operation
The user has the option of setting an INTERVAL session
An interval session consists of 1, 2 or 3 HR ZONES set to autorepeat after a predefined TIMER or DISTANCE. [note - the Polar RS300X has 5 x Sports zones - increasing intensity HR bands]
The user selects "INTERVAL" from the "EXERCISE" setting
The user selects NUMBER OF ZONES (eg 1, 2 or 3) - we will use 3 to illustrate.
The user then defines each zone eg - Zone 1 to use Sports Zone 2, Zone 2 to use Sports Zone 3 and Zone 3 to use Sports Zone 5
The user then defines the TIMER (or distance for each zone to persist)
eg. Zone 1 (SZ2) for 3 mins [STEP 1] - > then Zone 2 (SZ3) for 8 mins [STEP 2] -> then Zone 3 (SZ5) for 3 mins [STEP 3] .. then it i will loop back and autorepeat...
User starts exercise.
The watch prompts for them to train in Zone 1 for 3 mins. Then it bleeps and tells the user to increase intensity to Zone 2 for 8 mins, then Zone 3 for 3 mins... then it starts AGAIN at Zone 1 for 3 mins...
At the end of the session the user can recall 2 sets of data.
Time Spent in Zone 1 (above and below) during STEP 1 - > Time Spent in Zone 2 (above and below) during STEP 2 and - > Time in Zone 3 (above and below) during STEP 3. It doesn't tally time spent in Zone 2 or Zone 3 during STEP 1, it doesn't tally time spent in Zone 1 or ZONE 3 during STEP 2 - and it doesn't tally time spent in Zone 2 or Zone 1 during STEP 3
HOWEVER...
What it does do is tell you how much cumulative time you have spent in SPORTS Zone 1, SZ2, SZ3, SZ4 and Sports Zone 5. The time spent in SPORTS ZONES gives you a good feel of how HARD a session was - showing by way of numerics and bar graph time effort distribution.
In summary - if you want to do a repeated series of 1, 2 or even 3 differing intensities (HR zones) for specific times - eg. 5 mins in Zone 1 , 10 mins in Zone 2, 2 mins in Zone 5 then repeat - the Polar RS300X is perfect.......
