BHIP
Ltd summary. Highly recommended for
the serious runner. Most of these functions are only of use to a runner
with a structured training programme. Multiple HR zones, distance,
HR or time based interval sessions. Long term training diary held
in the watch and uploaded to Polar Fitness website www.polarpersonaltrainer.com.
Excellent value for money, as it includes the Polar Wearlink chest
strap and the Polar F1 foot pod.
After
a day's playing around with the RS200SD we could find and set most
of the features we needed . It's a sophistacted HRM so we are afraid
you will need to read the manual to get the most out of it.
These
units are smaller than the Polar S610i / S625x and will fit most wrist
sizes except very petite. The plastics used on the RS series is better
and softer than that on the F series.
Next model
down is the Polar RS200, same functions
as this one MINUS the Polar S1 foot pod omitting the running speed
and distance functions... £60 less.

User
is able to manage an online training diary on Polar's own fitness
training website. Summary data is stored per session, i.e max, min,
time in zones, distance etc. It is not a full time versus heart
rate graph like you get with the S625x or S610i and it is NOT downloaded
to your local PC. Visit www.polar.fi for details. Download interface
is a standard PC microphone and soundcard, not supplied.
The
Polar RS200 and the Polar RS200SD are the same watch. The RS200SD
comes WITH the Polar S1 foot pod,
the Polar RS200 does NOT, but it can be added later to give the unit
FULL RS200SD functionality.

Rate Monitor with Speed and Distance Polar
Speed POD S1 - these new models have been specifically designed with
runners' needs in mind. Quick change training zones, clearer identification
of current HR intensity and crosstalk prevention to avoid unwanted interference

- using the highly accurate inertia controlled accelerometer Polar
S1 foot pod. These units gernerally do not need calibrating and from
our experience give about 96-97% accuracy out of the box, if you wish
to calibrate for more accuarcy, you can. User can set pace alarm to
warn when to speed up or slow down plus realtime pace and distance
monitoring. Autolap feature to save each mile/km to file.
- 5 x heart
rate training zones with audible heart rate alarm - these are
automatically set by the Polar RS200SD. You may choose to set your
own HR zone if you wish in manual mode. To help get the optimum zone
you can use the OwnZone, see below
- Polar
OwnIndex, resting heart rate test giving an approximate VO2
max figure and indication of fitness. The Polar RS200SD includes a
Fitness test trend graph, this can show, graphically, improvements
in you Fitness score over time
- Polar
OwnZone - automatic calculation of training zone intensity
with audible and visual alarms - The Polar RS200 allows you to let
the heart rate monitor set your training zone for you. This is generally
about 65-85% of Max HR. The training zone is determined by the watch
following a 5 minute walking / jogging test. You may choose to accept
this zone or use your own manually prescribed one or one of the 5
Polar Zones.
- Polar
OwnCal - calorie expenditure
- 99 lap / split
stopwatch with 1/100 second resolution. This is useful when doing
interval work, fartleks, or running a distance marked race and wish
to collect and then recall mile / km times. When the user presses
lap, the display of the Polar RS200 freezes for a few seconds and
shows lap time, average HR and lap number, it then moves on to split
time (total elapsed time since start). The display then reverts back
to user selected options.
- Flexible Display
: The Polar RS200SD has a flexible display and allows the user to
view the data that is most important to them, i.e. Calories, Total
Time, Lap Time, Pace, Speed, Distance and Heart Rate.
- File Recall
: The Polar RS200SD creates a "file" for each session
over 1 minute. The training file contains the following information.Date
and start time, duration of exercise, average heart rate (in bpm or
%), maximum heart rate (bpm or %), training zone(s) applied, time
in this zone(s), time above the zone(s) and time below zone(s). Total
calories burnt during session. Maximum and average speed/pace and
total distance. A bargraph of time spent in the 5 x Polar Sports Zones
with total time spent in each of the 5 zones.
- Laps / Splits
:If the lap function has been pressed the Polar RS 200SD will also
recall number of laps, best lap time, lap time with average heart
rate and heart rate at end of lap. Number
of laps, average lap time, best lap time, average and max HR per lap,
end heart rate of each lap, lap number, split time, average pace of
lap, maximum speed of lap.....
- Long term
files : The Polar RS200SD also has a week view memory file and
a total view file option. The weekly view gives calories burnt, km/miles
ran, duration of exercise, time spent in different Polar Sports Zones.
The Totals gives total duration, total calories, total exercise count,
total distance. You can reset these whenever you wish.
- Next model up is the Polar RS300X - Polar RS300X SD and Polar RS300X G1
- Intervals
: The Polar RS200SD has a 3 segment interval trainer. These segments
can be either, distance based or time based. You may choose to use
1, 2 or all 3 segments. The segments autorepeat one after another
if required. An example would be 10 mins in HR Zone 1, 6 mins in Zone
2 then 2 mins in Zone 3, then repeat, or 1 mile at Zone 1, 0.5 miles
at Zone 2 then repeat.
