Does this unit use a wireless chest strap? For continuous monitoring you WILL need a chest strap. If you just want to see heart rate on demand then you may use a finger sense device. These are still ECG accurate, very accurate. They are not pulse monitors. Pulse monitors are highly inaccurate.

Does this HRM give time of day / date

Does it give Percentage of Max HR. This is useful when training is presribed as" %" as opposed to regular beats per minute

Does it give Percentage of Fat Calories burnt i.e. 60 % of calories burnt came from FAT

Does it have a system to avoid crosstalk from other HRM users? This is only really required if there are other HRM users within 1.5m of you , eg. in a busy gym.

Does it have heart rate zone alarms? These are used to control your exercise intensity and highly recommended. It will alarm when you go above or below the alarm thresholds. Most people only need 1.

Does this model give "time spent in heart rate zone" ?

Can it calculate calories burnt per session based on age, sex and exercising heart rate activity? Calories burnt is a really good indicator of overall effort. Great for comparing training load from one session to the next. It is not just for the weight conscious exerciser.

Is it possible to recall your maximum heart rate at the end of a session? This is useful, but not essential. Average is probably more of a necessity.
