The Garmin Foretrex 201 is a dedicated navigational GPS unit that is small enough to wear on your wrist. Unlike the Garmin Forerunner 201 it has the ability to provide 125 waypoint route planning and "TracBack" facility which allows the user to retrace the biscuit trail left from previous route. The Foretrex 201 does NOT have "pace alarm" / "virtual partner" training modes (please see the Garmin Forerunner 201 for that feature). The Garmin Foretrex 201 is for the outdoor enthusiast with real navigational requirements, not just a knowledge of speed and distance travelled.

Good features,

1) Ability to "TracBack" a previously laid biscuit trail route. Your Garmin Foretrex 201 will automatically leave a biscuit trail while you walk/trek. If you want to track backwards, back to the start, over the same route, then the "tracback" feature allows this..

2) The Garmin Foretrex 201 ability to give latitude and longitude in many different standards, including UK Ordnance Survey. This allows the user to enter manual destination waypoints directly from an OS map.

3) The Garmin Foretrex 201 allows the user to pre-plan a route. The route can be made from up to 125 waypoints. The waypoints can be either previsited waypoints (stored in memory) or waypoints entered using lat/long information taken from a map.
